FootJoy delight at still being No1

Leading golf shoe brand FootJoy has maintained its place as the number one selling shoe on the market in the first quarter of 2009.

The brand, endorsed by leading players such as Padraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy, dominates brand share with more than 53 per cent of all shoes sold in the UK during the first quarter of 2009 being FootJoy.

FootJoy’s various ranges make up seven of the top 10 selling shoes on the market – including the top four – with the AQL shoe coming in at number one with more than 17 per cent of market share.

Mike Lucas, director of sales and marketing at FootJoy, said: “We are delighted with the latest results from Datatech. In these tough economic times it reassuring to know that retailers and consumers alike continue to engage with the FootJoy brand.

“Our aim of meeting the needs of the more traditional consumer, while expanding our appeal with the younger and more fashion conscious golfer appears to be working.”
