New Wilson FG Tour ball unveiled

Wilson Staff have unveiled a new premium FG Tour ball to complement the FG Tour irons, which they launched earlier this year.

The new ball is a three-piece design which Wilson say is the softest, highest-spinning urethane golf ball they’ve ever made and was developed in anticipation ofthe new groove standards to promote more spin and better playability around the greens.

The FG Tour ball is a low 75 compression ball, which means it maximises distance with the driver, but its soft veneer of urethane on the cover and high-spin mantle layer mean it feels soft and delivers controlled spin with the shorter clubs.

The ball also features Wilson’s Traction Control Technology (TCT), which is being used in the development of all of their new golf balls and is designed to improve stopping power into greens, better carry distance through higher spin production and reduce fliers from the rough by engaging more contact with surface area and grooves.

Wilson say the TCT actually increases surface area contact between the club and the golf ball by 17 per cent, leading to 13 per cent more grooves being engaged during the strike.

And there’s even more good news – despite being a premium three-piece ball with a urethane cover, the FG Tour ball will retail at £31.99 per dozen when it becomes available in January.
