TaylorMade R9 and R9 TP irons video review

You’ve probably already seen TaylorMade’s stunning new R9 and R9 TP irons in Today’s Golfer magazine – well now we’ve got our grubby mitts on them and get them out on the range for a test.

The R9 irons are aimed at mid-high handicappers looking for a bit more forgiveness but without looking down at a chunky, ugly lump of metal.

It features a unique foam-filled cavity back which dampens vibrations on off-centre hits while still allowing good feedback when the ball is hit from the sweet spot.

The R9 TP irons are smaller, thinner, sleeker versions aimed at the better player who wants to work the ball, control the flight but still retain an element of forgiveness.

They also have the unenviable job of carrying on the sterling work of the R9 driver and fairway wood, which have both proved extremely popular since their launch.

So do they live up to the billing? TG equipment editor David Connor and features writer Kit Alexander reveal all in the video below.
