New Wilson 888 classic putter line-up unveiled

Wilson Staff have released their brand new line-up of classic-looking 888 putters, designed to appeal to traditionalists.

The putters are all designed in classic styles in order to be appealing on the eye while still featuring cutting-edge technology to improve your fortunes on the green.

The four blade, mallet and semi-mallet designs feature Visual Plane Differential alignment technology (VPD) with multi-surface markings to help players position their eyes directly above the putting target line for a more consistent strike.

Each putter in the series is also milled with a flat face for consistent ball-striking before secondary master grooves are milled directly onto the face to promote forward spin and reduce skid after impact. The arched shape of these secondary grooves imparts a slight sidespin on heel and toe impacts, helping the ball to stay in a straight line.

“The 888 series of putters has a style for every player,” said Bob Thurman, global director of R&D for Wilson Staff.

“We have taken the vintage shapes from our rich history of Wilson archives and applied the most cutting-edge technology to the designs to provide golfers with a putter that looks streamlined and classic but has all of the latest innovations to keep our putts straight and accurate.”

The 888 Series putters consist of the 8881, 8882, 8883 and 8885 models, each with its own unique features.

8881 is a traditional heel-toe blade putter that is heel-shafted with a plumber hosel, 8882 is a heel shafted blade putter with an off-set gooseneck hosel, 8883 is a toe-weighted putter with a semi-mallet and 8885 is a heel-toe weighted mallet putter with a heel-shafted plumber hosel.
