Unveiled: Callaway FTiZ fairway wood

Published:

Callaway’s new FTiZ fairway wood is the latest in the line of the company’s FT (fusion technology) clubs to incorporate a mix of materials in the head for improved performance.

While multi-material technology is more prevalent in drivers, Callaway has used it to take fairway wood development to the next level and incorporate a Polar Weighting system to the new clubs.

This means a mix of titanium, carbon fibre, aluminium and steel has all been fused together in the head to result in a heavier face, heavy rear weighting and an ultra-light mid section for a high MOI and more stability throughout the strike.

The result, say Callaway, is a high launching but solid club with plenty of built-in forgiveness.

This technology doesn’t come cheap. The FTiZ fairway woods are priced at £249 but in today’s world you usually get what you pay for.
