Martin Kaymer gives TaylorMade’s Penta ball it’s first tour win

TaylorMade staff player Martin Kaymer has delighted the company’s R&D team by becoming the first tour winner with the revolutionary new Penta TP golf ball.

The German won in Abu Dhabi to seal his fifth victory on the European Tour and record the Penta’s first worldwide tour win in the process.

The Penta is golf’s first five-piece ball and each of the five layers has been designed to help optimise performance in five key shot categories; driver, long-irons, middle-irons, short-irons and short-wedge shots.

“I switched to Penta TP from another brand only one month ago and,” said Kaymer. “It’s easily the best ball I’ve ever played.”

It has been a big hit on tour so far with other TaylorMade staff players Sergio Garcia and Retief Goosen already putting it into play and club golfers will be able to give it a try later this year when it is launched to the general public – although the exact date has still to be confirmed.

Kaymer’s arsenal for his tense victory over Ian Poulter and Rory McIlroy also included 13 TaylorMade clubs. He used: R9 460 Driver, R9 Fairway Wood, Burner TP Fairway Wood, RAC TP Irons, RAC TP Wedges and PING Karsten Series Anser 2 putter.

He also picked up maximum points in Today’s Golfer’s Fantasy Golf League so if you had him in your team you’ll likely be celebrating today.
