Video review: TaylorMade R9 TP irons

TaylorMade know that even the best players in the world have off days and therefore often look for a bit of forgiveness in their irons – and that’s exactly what the new R9 TP irons are designed for.

They are TaylorMade’s take on the successful R9 game improver irons which feature a foam-filled cavity for enhanced forgiveness. The R9 TP irons however are much sleeker and better lookiing than their game-improvement counterparts and this means they are extremely inviting for better players.

The narrow sole and short heel-to-toe width means they provide the penetrating trajectory and workability a better player is looking for. However, there is also a shallow cavity cut into the back of the iron heads to keep more mass low and deep in the head for added forgiveness when you are having an off day.

Two golfers who know all about off days are TG’s gear duo Jonathan Greathead and David Connor and they took the R9 TP irons out to the range for a test drive. You can see how they got on in the video below and you can also find out more about the irons by visiting our exclusive What Gear 2010 section in association with online golf.
