The Mac is Back – new MacGregor MT irons

As we reported last year, MacGregor Golf is back – and now they have unveiled their stunning new iron line up.

Virtually every golfer of a certain vintage will have owned a set of MacGregor irons at some point in their golfing lives and it is undoubtedly where the company made its name. They are, after all, the most successful iron manufacturer in Major Championship history with 59 wins to their name in the hands of legendary players such as Jack Nicklaus, Byron Nelson and Greg Norman.

Now, five cracking new models are set to carry on that mantle and forge MacGregor’s reputation among a new generation of players.

MacGregor MT Pro-M iron: MacGregor are known for their blades so a new range wouldn’t be complete without a set. These are forged from 1025 carbon steel and are designed for the serious player. The compact head and flatter sole increases workability while the triangular weighting in the head gives a penetrating launch angle.

MacGregor MT Pro-C iron: This is an updated version of the popular VIP iron. For skilled amateurs, they offer similar workability to the blade but with more forgiveness due to the wedge-shaped cavity. Forged from 1025 carbon steel they have slightly more offset and a slightly larger head than the Pro-M.

MacGregor MT Cup Face: Designed for mid-to-low handicappers, these MT Cup Face irons have a classic blade profile at address while offering all the benefits of a deeper-cavity club. The face is forged and welded onto the steel body, a design that aims to make the entire face a sweet spot.

MacGregor MT Mid iron: This is aimed at players who require a little bit more shot-making assistance but don’t want to go all out for game-improver clubs. To that end they’re designed with medium offset, a thicker sole and a deep undercut cavity for extra forgiveness. A versatile club.

MacGregor MT OS: The OS stands for over sized and is designed to inspire confidence for all levels. The face is consistently thin to promote a high spring-like effect across the sweetspot, even with slower swing speeds, while the deep undercut cavity, thick sole and offset add forgiveness and ease of launch.
