John Letters to open new St Andrews showroom

Scottish golf brand John Letters is continuing its revival after announcing the opening of a new showroom and workshop in St Andrews.

In the middle of the last century John Letters was known as one of the finest equipment manufacturers in golf with golfing luminaries such as Fred Daly, Dai Rees, Lee Trevino, Bernard Gallacher, Sam Torrance and Gary Player playing the brand.

Now the company, which was formed in 1918, is determined to return to its past glories by reinventing the brand.

The latest step in that progression is the opening of a new showroom and workshop in St Andrews – just a 254 yard drive from the 18th green on the world-renowned Old Course.

The new workshop will enable John Letters to combine the latest performance technologies with their fine clubmaking traditions and expertise to hand assemble and custom-build its 2011 range of products in Scotland.

John Letters believe the move will also reaffirm their commitment to the area by refusing to follow suit and have the equipment assembled in the Far East.

John Andrew, managing director for John Letters, said: “John Letters is proud to be turning back the clock, bringing custom built hand crafted clubs back to St. Andrews.”

The workshop and showroom will be officially opened on Friday 15 April, 2011 by current John Letters staff player and golfing legend Sam Torrance.

The venue will be open from 9am to 5pm on the day and John Letters are inviting members of the public to come along and see it for themselves.
