A set of irons can make up more than 50 per cent of your golf bag so choosing the right ones for you is vitally important.
Throughout the course of the year TG’s gear team Jonathan Greathead and David Connor will test dozens of different sets, particularly during our annual irons test where as many as 60 sets will go head to head with each other.
During those tests they are obviously looking to give feedback on the type of ball flight and feel golfers can expect from certain clubs but they also get a good idea of what works for them and that’s why we’ve put them on the spot and asked them to name their iron of the year for 2011.
