Nike VR-S woods unveiled for 2012

Nike have released details of their brand new range of VR-S woods due out in 2012.

The VR-S woods, which stands for Victory Red Speed, will replace the SQ Machspeed line for next year. Gone are the square headshapes designed to maximise forgiveness and in their place comes sleeker, more aesthetically-pleasing designs.

However, Nike say these are no less forgiving than the square Machspeed range and instead offer much faster ball speeds and ultimately, even more distance.

The driver, fairway wood and hybrid in the VR-S range all feature Nike’s NexCOR face technology. This technology utilises a specially-created multi-thickness face which gives a higher COR (co-efficient of restitution or spring-like effect) off a higher proportion of the face. The result is good ball speeds even when you don’t catch the ball out the middle of the clubface.

The driver also features Nike’s adjustable hosel STR8-Fit system, which is a great feature in a driver with an RRP of £199.95.

The fairway wood and hybrid are also designed to have an increased COR zone from the middle to lower part of the face, because this is where shots from the fairway are generally struck.

Lastly, all the woods in the range come with Mitsubishi’s impressive Fubuki shaft as standard.

The driver has an RRP of £199.95 and comes in 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5 and 13 degree lofts (9.5 and 10.5 in LH). The fairway wood is priced at £129.95 and is available in 15, 17, 19 and 21 degree lofts (15 & 19 in LH). The hybrid has an RRP of £109.95 with 18, 21, 24 and 27 degree loft options (18, 21 and 24 in LH).
