Wilson Staff have announced the signing of starlet Stiggy Hodgson, as the youngster starts his 2012 campaign on the Challenge Tour.

The 21-year-old, who has been using Wilson clubs since he was 10, begins his first year as a professional with the Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons in the bag.

“Stiggy has been in the public eye since his junior days, but especially from 2009 when he was the young star of his first Walker Cup match,” said Doug Wright, Business Director for Europe at Wilson Golf.

“We’re delighted that he’s decided to continue his relationship with Wilson and hope he enjoys a successful  first year on the Challenge Tour with the FG Tour V2 irons,” he added.

Hodgson enjoyed a stellar career as an amateur, winning back-to-back titles at the 2007 and 2008 Abu Dhabi Junior Golf Championship as well as claiming the Peter McEvoy trophy.

He also reached the semi-final of the 2009 British Amateur and the final of the 2011 Spanish International Championship.

Hodgson joins the likes of three-time Major winner Padraig Harrington in the Wilson stable, as well as former Open Champion Paul Lawrie.
