Nike launch new 20XI balls

Nike Golf has unveiled a new premium 20XI ball franchise that features a revolutionary new resin core.

Golf balls have been manufactured with a conventional rubber core in the past, but Nike’s new resin material in the 20XI range is faster and lighter which means the ball can produce more distance and the golfer can retain more control.

“I have never been more excited about a new gofl ball innovation than I am now,” commented Rock Ishii, Nike Golf’s Product Development Director for golf balls. “For many years golf ball development has primarily been focused on the number of layers with a solid rubber core. We believe that there wasn’t really anywhere else to go as far as technology advancement in these areas, and felt that the next window of opportunity was in the exploration of various materials for the core.”

The fact that the core material is lighter means that Nike Golf engineers can surround it with heavier layers which means more perimeter-weighting that leads to less spin off the driver for more distance.

There are two different balls in the range – the 20XI-X which offers more distance, and the 20XI-S which focuses more on generating spin. We’ve got the full story in the current issue of TG, so get hold of your copy today.
