Callaway stars tweak equipment for Open Championship

Callaway’s Tour stars have made some alterations to their equipment for this week’s Open Championship, in order to combat the tricky conditions that await them at Royal St George’s in Kent.
With the players’ driving abilities likely to be tested to the full, multiple-Major winner Phil Mickelson has added an X-Tour hybrid (18 degrees) to his bag which will hopefully guarantee the amiable American around 260 yards off the tee.
Another star making a tweak to his gear is former World Amateur No.1 Danny Willet – the starlet has swapped his Razr Hawk driver for a lower-lofted, more penetrating Diablo Octane Tour in order to deal with the wind.
Willet has switched into the Razr Muscleback irons too, and has also elected to put an X-Tour driving iron in the bag.
Finally Thomas Bjorn, who only received a call-up on Monday after Vijay Singh’s withdrawal, has a new X-Forged wedge in the bag, complete with a special c-grind that has taken around four degrees of bounce off the product. The Dane actually damaged the wedge at last week’s Scottish Open when he hit a rock!
