Motocaddy supporting Grow Golf initiative

Powered trolley giant Motocaddy has joined other major manufacturers by backing the British Golf Industry Association’s new Grow Golf campaign.

The scheme has been designed to get a wider range of people into golf in the UK, regardless of age, geographic location or social background.

Motocaddy join the likes of Callaway, PING, TaylorMade and Acushnet in supporting the initiative by paying an annual levy, based on UK turnover. Programmes such as Tri Golf and Golf Extreme will receive funding in order to continue to grow.

“We’re very excited to be involved in a scheme that supports golfers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities,” said David Wells, Chairman of Motocaddy.

“It’s imperative that manufacturers get behind such inspiring initiatives and help expand the number of golfers in the future,” he added.

Motocaddy have enhanced their reputation in the last few years as one of premier golf brands, and have revently announced a sales increase in excess of 60% for 2010.

“Motocaddy’s contribution highlights their commitment to support this industry-wide cause dedicated to giving back to the game,” said Grow Golf Chairman Bob Smith.

“We hope that this move will encourage other companies to follow suit as further support from the industry can enable the scheme to become a major contributor to the future growth of the game,” he added.
