New Yonex Ezone SD driver and fairway wood

Earlier this year Yonex launched their Ezone range of drivers that superstar Ryo Ishikawa has been using on the PGA Tour. Now, hot on their heels is the new Ezone SD range which offers distance and forgiveness at a more affordable price point.

As good as the original Ezone is, it still retails for £299 (£349 with Yonex’s specially-designed Rexis shaft – meaning it is outwith the reach of many club golfers.

The new range – at £199 for the driver and £149 for the fairway wood – is more affordable and thankfully, according to Yonex, doesn’t translate to inferior performance. It is aimed at the player who values distance and forgiveness off the tee compared to the smaller-headed and more workable original Ezone.

The new driver features a Carbon Graphite Composite crown which allows engineers to move weight lower in the clubhead for a high, powerful ball flight while the Muscle Power face means fast ball speeds across a greater surface area.

The fairway wood also features a Carbon Graphite Composite crown which Yonex say is 20 per cent lighter than previous models and a sole design that offers 30 per cent less interaction with the turf for reduced drag.

The driver is available in 9, 10, 10.5 and 12 degree options and the fairway wood comes in 3, 5 and 7-wood options.
