Slattery wins in Spain wearing new Galvin Green windstopper

Lee Slattery’s win at the Bankia Madrid Masters was the first European Tour victory of his career, and it was also a first for the brand new Galvin Green WINDSTOPPER.
Slattery held off the challenge of five of last year’s victorious European Ryder Cup players to win in the Spanish capital, but the sunny pictures on the television coverage didn’t do justice to the windy conditions Slattery had to master.
The Southport star nearly grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory on the 72nd hole, but retained his composure to hole a nerve-jangling putt on the final green for the win.
“I was so relaxed on the back nine, but I’ve never shaken so much in my life as I did over that final two-foot putt, because that’s a life-changing putt,” admitted the 33-year old.
The win elevates Slattery 168 places in the world rankings to just outside the top-150, and he was quick to praise the impact of the Galvin Green brand after collecting the winner’s cheque of 166,660 Euros.
“I did some modelling for Galvin Green and I actually got more exposure out of that than from any other sponsor I’ve ever had, so they’ve been fantastic,” he added.
In addition to the Boyd WINDSTOPPER product that Slattery was wearing on Sunday, Galvin Green’s Ventil8 shirt and matching white slacks were also out in force on what turned out to be the most successful day of the Englishman’s career.
In the wake of Slattery’s success, Galvin Green Managing Director Mike Johnson-Hill commented on the increased interest in the apparel.
