Video review: Nike VR Pro wedge

Published:

When the R&A changed the laws on what grooves are legal and illegal manufacturers had to go back to the drawing board on how to create wedges that offer forgiveness and spin.

This is what Nike came up with. The VR Pro features new X3X ‘high-frequency’ fully conforming grooves to provide better performance and more consistent distance control. There are more grooves, closer together and deeper on the face to ensure maximum flight control and shot-to-shot consistency.

A precision laser crosshatch pattern is applied to the strike area between the grooves. This pattern adds 3 times the surface texture versus conventionally finished faces, creating more spin in all conditions, enhancing the performance of the X3X groove.

The forged wedges come in a traditional Satin Chrome finish, whilst still retaining a high degree of workability.  A versatile Tour-inspired heel grind allows for increased shot-making capabilities from various lies.

They are also fitted with the famous True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shafts and Nike Crossline grips, which have been produced by Lamkin for maximum grip and fantastic feel.

Here’s what our Senior Equipment Editor Jon and Equipment Editor Dave think of them:
