Video Review: Cobra Baffler T-Rail Hybrid

The Baffler T-Rail has a sole that reduces the area of the club that comes in contact with the ground, the result is improved turf interaction and maximum forgiveness – making the Baffler T-Rail the most forgiving and versatile Cobra hybrid ever.

While improving the turf interaction the T-Rail moves the centre of gravity lower and deeper for a higher penetrating ball flight and a longer carry distance. Maximum forgiveness can be found due to the thin, high strength 465 steel face and versatility as well as increasing your ball speeds.

On our September 2012 hybrid test it won the Gold Award, and that speaks for itself. The Baffler T-Rail wowed our testers with its all-round performance and power.

It was Peter’s favourite club. He had no hesitation in awarding it top marks in every category because he simply couldn’t fault it. David insisted the ball speeds were impressive from the Baffler T-Rail, even on mis-hits, and that’s why he rated it highly for forgiveness. He admitted it wasn’t his favourite looking club on test with a slightly larger head and a touch of offset but the performance more than made up for the aesthetics.

Conversely Alan was taken with the looks of the head – particularly the neon alignment lines on the crown and the bright yellow grip, which he thought made the club stand out. In terms of the performance, he was impressed by the feel and the speed with which the ball flew o the face.

Our test pro James isn’t normally a fan of busy crowns but liked the alignment lines on the Baffler and said that it sounded great coming off the face.

Here’s what TG’s two equipment editors thought of it:
