Raphaël Jacquelin In The Bag: Open De España Winning Clubs

After a remarkable European Tour record nine hole playoff at the Open De España, TaylorMade-adidas staff professional Raphaël Jacquelin emerged victorious to claim his fourth career victory.
The final round at Parador de El Saler could not separate those in contention as Chile’s Felipe Aguilar, Germany’s Maximilian Kieffer and Frenchman Jacuelin all finished on five-under-par.
Each produced successive pars on the 18th for the first two playoff holes, before Kieffer and Jacquelin both made birdies at the third time of asking, with the German’s coming courtesy of a gutsy 30-footer.
The two battled it out in the joint-longest European Tour playoff since its formation in 1972, exchanging pars on a further five holes, before Jacquelin made the decisive move when he hit a wedge to five feet and holed the subsequent putt for his first win since the 2011 Sicilian Open.
“That is very tiring but I am really, really happy,” he said of the playoff which lasted over two hours. “I could not make any putts but the last one dropped, which means a lot for me and my family.”
Overnight leader Marc Warren was infront for much of the final round, but bogeyed four of the last five holes, including back-to-back three-putts on 17 and 18, to finish one back from the leaders alongside David Horsey and Magnus Carlsson.
Sergio Garcia finished three back on two-under, while Paul Casey and Matteo Manassero led the rest of the big names on one-under-par.
