Video Review: PING G25 Driver

In this video TG Instruction Editor Kit Alexander  reviews the Gold Award winning driver on our recent 2013 test.

All the team loved the matt black finish. Chris, our highest handicapper, could barely miss with this club and quickly declared the G25 his favourite on test. He hit his longest drive of the day by more than 25 yards and his dispersion, though left of target, was extremely consistent.

Low-launching Kit had no problem getting his ball in the air and keeping it there with a dispersion of just eight yards. Both Joel and James struggled to achieve the expected distance, perhaps due to increased spin numbers on the launch monitor, while Graeme’s dispersion of just six yards also exceeded his expectations.

All the testers praised the club’s forgiveness, saying that curvature was lower than expected on off-centre strikes and distance barely affected. They all noted how good Ping are at custom fitting, too.

Pros: Infuses confidence at address with the larger crown and stylish, matt black finish. Forgiveness is the club’s main selling point and it delivers on that – and then some.
Cons: The high-spinning nature of this driver won’t please everyone. Adjustability is limited compared to some rival drivers at similar price points.
