Laser launch for Golf Buddy

Golf Buddy has always been a GPS brand. But now it has launched a range finder in a bid to become the world’s largest “Distance Measuring Device” provider.

The Golf Buddy LR3 laser weighs 200grams, features an LCD screen and has a range of 1,000 yards. Users can transmit the laser for up to 10 seconds and use 6x magnification to dial in on their target.

The LR3 features three target modes. The Scan mode features continuous distance display to multiple objects while firing the laser for up to 10 seconds. The Flag mode gives an exact yardage to the pin, factoring out any background ‘noise’ while the Normal mode provides yardages to any direct chosen target. It’s IPX4 structure design makes it dust and water resistant and the focus of the eyepiece can be easily adjusted.

“Research we carried out in Europe tells us that while hand-held and wearable devices are more popular with high-handicap players, lasers are far more popular with better players,” John Ennis, Golf Buddy Global Head of Marketing, told TG. “We wanted to make sure we had a product that appealed directly to these players.”

Golf Buddy claim the LR3 is accurate to the nearest yard and is quick and easy to use. Users get up to 5,000 scans from a fully charged battery and will be safe in the knowledge their favourite settings will be stored as it defaults to ‘last-used’ setting when switched back on.

Check out how it ranks in our GPS and Range finder test, on sale in early October.
