Mizuno Sign Former Amateur Number One Daan Huizing

Mizuno has announced the addition of former amateur star Daan Huizing to its European Tour staffers.

The Dutchman will join Marcel Siem and Chris Wood, who have both signed new Mizuno deals for the 2013 season.

The 22-year-old played Mizuno irons on his way to becoming the number one ranked amateur in Europe, before turning professional at the end of 2012.

In that season he won the Lytham Trophy and the St Andrews Links Trophy – posting a record 23-under-par at St Andrews. He also won 12 national and international titles across 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Mizuno Tour Operations Manager Andy Kikidas commented: “We met Daan several years ago at the Dutch Open when he walked into our workshop as an amateur looking for support.

“We’ve supported Daan with his equipment and followed his progress ever since and are incredibly excited that he’s signed with Mizuno as a professional.”

German Marcel Siem, winner of the 2012 French Open, has also agreed terms with Mizuno after re-joining the brand just last season, finishing with a career high 14th position on the money list.

Joining Siem is Englishman Chris Wood, signing a new multi-year deal in his quest for a first European Tour title. The 25-year-old has signed to wear Mizuno’s technical apparel – in addition to his bag and club deal.

Mizuno have also secured prior contracted players on new agreements, including Magnus A Carlsson, Peter Whiteford, Ignacio Garrido, Gary Orr and Ricardo Gonzalez, who will be joined by Tour School graduates Lasse Jensen and David Griffiths.
