Phil Mickelson in the bag: Open Championship winning clubs

Published:

Just as he did at Merion during the US Open, Phil Mickelson opted to not carry a driver at Muirfield, using a 13-degree Callaway X Hot 3Deep fairway wood as his longest club in the bag.

The strategy paid off perfectly for the American as he used the club twice on Muirfield’s 17th to reach the par 5 in two and make a four and move two clear of the likes of Henrik Stenson and Lee Westwood.

At the other end of his bag, the left-hander carried five wedges, including Callaway’s new Mack Daddy 2.

See what other clubs Mickelson used to master Muirfield below:

Fairway wood: Callaway X Hot 3Deep (Mitsubishi Fubuki K 70X), 13 degrees
Hybrid: Ping Anser, 17 degrees
Irons: (4-PW): Callaway X Forged
Wedges: Callaway Jaws (52 & 56 degrees), Callaway Mack Daddy 2 (60 & 64 degrees)
Putter: Odyssey Versa #9
Ball: Callaway HEX Chrome+ (prototype)
