FootJoy reveals D.N.A. shoe

FootJoy has launched a brand new shoe offering a sporty look and feature-packed with industry-leading performance.

D.N.A (Dryjoys Next Advancement) is a more athletic extension of the traditional DryJoys line, offering a variety of unique technologies designed to enhance comfort, traction, stability and flexibility.

The low-profile design of the outsole brings golfers closer the ground. A newly-positioned cleat at the toe end of the shoe has been moved more to the inside to stay in contact with the ground for longer. FootJoy says this leads to more energy transfer and more power. In general, the spikes have been moved closer to the boundaries for greater stability.

“To create the most feature-laden golf shoe in our history, we needed to explore the anatomy, or DNA, of our premium footwear products and then scrutinise each and every aspect throughout the design and development process,” commented Doug Robinson, Vice President of Design and Development Worldwide. “Each material and component was carefully considered in order to deliver a shoe with lightweight stability, a custom-like fit, superior feel and ultimate performance.”

While FootJoy has lighter shoes in its 2014 line up, it believes that ounce for ounce the 420g D.N.A will be its best performing shoe on the market. “Best-performing doesn’t necessarily mean the lightest,” Jeremy Baldwin, FootJoy’s Director of Product management, told TG. “The lighter you go, you’ve got to start taking things away and making compromises. We believe in D.N.A we’ve got the right weight.”

In between the cleats, grooves offer greater flexibility during the swing. A ‘SnugFit’ tongue features extra breathability and provides cushioning on the lace pressure point via a small pad. The forefoot has been made wider to allow your toes to relax and interact more with the ground.

D.N.A. has already seen validation at the highest level, as FJ brand Ambassadors Adam Scott and Webb Simpson immediately put the performance D.N.A. golf shoe in play before the Presidents Cup. Adam Scott has worn D.N.A. golf shoes exclusively since September, including while competing at the 2013 Presidents Cup and during his three recent wins in Australia.

“D.N.A. is the most technologically advanced shoe FJ has ever produced and it embodies everything I am looking for in a golf shoe,” commented the world’s No2. “They actually activate my feet, giving me great balance throughout my swing.”
