The tech story behind Ping’s turbo-charged G30 driver

It’s fair to say Ping’s new G30 driver is one of the company’s more radical designs but there is plenty of substance behind its unique appearance. 

To validate the addition of the crown turbulators and to see them in action, Ping engineers conducted wind tunnel testing using a high-speed stream of smoke to demonstrate the difference in drag between drivers with and without turbulators on the crown. 

An increase in 1mph of clubhead for the average golfer will lead to a 2-3mph increase in ball speed, leading to more distance.
