Bridgestone tees up summer golf competition series

Bridgestone UK is staging a series of golf days at English courses this summer, to give club members the chance to win Bridgestone Golf prizes and compete in a national tournament final later in the year.

Six sponsored events are set to take place during May, June and July with around 1,200 players competing at selected golf clubs across the country. The events will offer golfers the chance to win products played by the likes of Fred Couples, Matt Kuchar and Paula Creamer.

“These events are a great way to expand our involvement in golf beyond the annual Bridgestone Invitational in late July,” said Bridgestone’s north region communications manager Andy Dingley. “The clubs we’ve chosen offer a great mix of parkland courses and we’re looking forward to seeing competitors at the national final later this year.”

At each event, Bridgestone Golf will also offer 16 club members the chance to be fitted for the golf ball most suited to their game. The Bridgestone Ball Fitting Challenge – which last year fitted a record 3,600 golfers in the UK & Ireland and recorded an average distance increase of 10.1 yards per player fitted – analyses swing speed, launch angle and spin rates to determine the ball that delivers the most distance and accuracy for each golfer.

The golf days and ball fittings will be staged at Walsall GC (17 May); Muswell Hill GC (23 May); Leighton Buzzard GC (15 June); Huntswood GC, Buckinghamshire (28 June); Ingon Manor CC, Stratford-upon-Avon (5 July); and Nott’s GC, Hollinwell (19 July).
