ECCO reveal two new shoes

Danish shoe company ECCO has unveiled two new models from its 2015 Spring/Summer collection soon to be worn by Tour staffer Fred Couples and other ECCO players.

The BIOM Hybrid 2 is the next-generation of its best-selling style showcasing patented ‘Natural Motion’ technology while the cleated BIOM G2 is 20 per cent lighter than previous offerings.

“We’ve taken what many have declared the world’s most comfortable golf shoe and made it even better,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “That we can do this is a testament to our skill as shoemakers and the drive that pushes us to pioneer new innovations season after season.”

The BIOM Hybrid 2 (£170) is 15 per cent lighter than the original model thanks to an extra-thin midsole that helps bring players closer to the playing surface. This is complemented by a dual-density TPU outsole. Two-colored to create an inspiring aesthetic, it is harder in areas that need the most stability and softer in key comfort zones.

Like all ECCO golf shoes, BIOM Hybrid 2 is created using the advanced Direct-injection Process. This bonds the upper and outsole unit, creating a one-piece shoe construction without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include an exceptionally water-tight seal, outstanding flexibility and out-of-the-box comfort.

The BIOM G2 (£210) is available in waterproof GORE-TEX (£225) and weather-resistant HYDROMAX options. Each pair showcases a variety of new performance elements that enhance flexibility, support, comfort and traction. These notably include a visible carbon fiber stability bar running heel to mid-foot and an integrated forefoot stability bar.

“Innovation informs everything we do at ECCO,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “The result of this unquenchable thirst for perfection is a golf collection that continues to evolve, as witnessed by the latest advancement of our award-winning BIOM Golf model.”

The BIOM G2 is further distinguished by premium yak leather uppers accented with TPU reinforcement dots. These contribute support during weight transfer associated with the swing.
