Like golf? Like Star Wars? Have we got a treat for you…

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in a galaxy far, far away, it won’t have escaped your attention that there’s a new Star Wars film out this week. If you’re a big fan, you can buy all manner of Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise, including posters, mugs, jumpers, shirts, jewellery, and even ‘The Dark Side’ mascara.

Now, as these brilliant images reveal, you can also show your passion for all things Galactic on the golf course.

This Star Wars gear is just part of a film-lover’s dream catalogue from British company Golf Alchemy that includes gear inspired by The Simpsons, Lord of the Rings, Batman, Scarface, and a variety of Premier League football teams.

We had a chat to Golf Alchemy’s technical director Mario Francolini…

Can you put anything we want on a wedge?

Yes. I can’t think of a limit. Our combination of engraving, micro engraving, hand engraving, painting and supercharged coatings allows anything to be done, even to the level of using solid silver and gold inserts.

What are the most memorable designs you’ve produced?

There’s too many to pick just one! We loved doing the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars stuff, but G-Mac’s wedge was cool, as was the one starring my hero, West Brom legend Cyrille Regis. Everything we do is special to us.

How do you do it?

We have several ways of achieving what we do, including some secret ones that we never talk about. We have created a specially formulated coating that is applied directly to the chrome. It’s called ‘supercharging’ and lets you change the colour of the head and make it more durable.

How much do the personalised golf clubs cost?

Costs can range from as little as £5 to as much as £5,000 depending on what the customer wants to create.

Are they legal in competitions?

All the clubs are perfectly legal for use. Our coatings have R&A approval.

What does the future hold for Golf Alchemy?

We already see ourselves as the best in the business of golf customisation. But we would like to work with all the big companies, creating exciting custom golf clubs that will be instantly recognisable to the consumer, who would know that the best level of workmanship has gone into their product.
