Nike reveal new Vapor Fly and Fly Pro drivers

Nike’s new Vapor Fly and Fly Pro drivers have been born out of challenges made from their tour athletes to improve performance through equipment. When Rory says he’s on a mission to max out his ball speed trust us you sit up and listen.

You don’t need to be Sherlock to spot both heads are painted what Nike like to call “photo blue” and “volt” swoosh. But Nike insist the changes run much deeper under the bonnet than just the colour. So whats new? Well both drivers benefit from a new 30% lighter crown. This weight saving has meant Nike engineers have created internal fins which strengthen the clubhead. The fins are positioned low and deep so the CG is lowered which makes the clubs more forgiving to hit. And Nike have paid close attention to how the face and compression channel work together at impact. “Tuning the channel” say Nike allows the face to compress and rebound more efficiently meaning this and the extra body stiffness deliver more power to the ball at impact. Which is as much a benefit to your game as it is the guys on tour.

For the Fly Pro there’s also a new less symmetrical head shape (think traditional pear shape) which Nike say is more tour accepted and a deeper face means less spin and added ball speed for the powerful hitter. Paul Casey was an early adopter of the new driver during the Tour Championship’s in September, since then Rory’s also put the Fly Pro into play.

Expect to see both drivers in good golf shops in February 2016 with prices from £249 – £299.
