Srixon reveal new Z-Star and Z-Star XV golf balls


The new SRIXON Z-STAR and SRIXON Z-STAR XV are the first golf balls in the world to use the macromolecule material (SeRM®), for more spin and soft feel.

Srixon's sixth generation Z-Star and Z-Star XV golf balls feature a brand new FastLayer core and unique macromolecule blended Spin Skin with SeRM® coating to improve speed, distance, spin and feel. 

According to Srixon, their latest technologies combine for two golf balls which significantly increase spin for short game without sacrificing distance off the tee. 

The FastLayer Core is soft in the middle and becomes increasingly harder towards the outside in order to improve launch and generate faster ball speeds.

The newest feature is an updated 'Spin Skin' which combines with their new micromolecule Slide-Ring Material to create a softer cover which Srixon say both dramatically increases distance while maintaining 'exceptional spin and a soft feel at a high level'. According to the brand, the key benefis of SeRM® are outstanding shape restoration, damage resistance, impact resistance, and vibration absorption.

What is the Macromolecule Material "SeRM®"?

SeRM® is a macromolecule material developed at the University of Tokyo. Macromolecule materials generally have mesh-shaped network constructions with string-like molecules, and those molecules break under stress.

SeRM®, on the other hand, is difficult to break even under high stress thanks to its freely movable connecting parts (cross-links) in the mesh network, and is excellent in shape restoration, damage resistance, impact resistance, and vibration absorption.
