Ready for action

Well they’re ready to go again, albeit nearly four hours later than anticipated because of the appalling weather.

And it’s interesting to see the reactions of some of the players as they left the warmth of the clubhouse to head for the practice range.

Rory McIlroy, as you’d expect, received warm applause from the large crowd but he didn’t move a muscle and was clearly totally focused on the job in hand.

As Ross Fisher came out, one wag in the crowd blurted out “I love you Fisher” and the player jovially responded by putting both of his arms high in the air.

Then there was chatty Ian Poulter who sat at the rear of a buggy, talking away one to the dozen to a BBC journalist.

However, in the main most players – from both camps that is – had their deadly serious faces on. This is where the Ryder Cup could be won or lost after all…
