Peter Hanson player biography

Collected his third European Tour victory in 2010 with victory at the Iberdrola Calla Millor Mallorca after a par at the first play-off hole was enough to claim victory over home favourite Alejandro Cañizares.

This followed a consistent year in 2009 where he broke through the €1 million in earnings for the second time in his career after a number of high finishes in the richest events on Tour, including a tie for ninth at the inaugural Dubai World Championship presented by: DP World which saw him end the year at 16th on the Race to Dubai, one spot outside the Bonus Pool. The highlight of his career so far came in 2008 with home victory at the SAS Masters where he became the first Swede to win the event in ten years. Previously he had secured his maiden European Tour title when he defeated compatriot Peter Gustafsson in a play-off for the 2005 Open de España en Andalucia at San Roque Club and came close to repeating that success in 2007 with seven top ten finishes on his way to breaking into the top 20 on the Order of Merit for the first time.

Initially earned his place on The European Tour through the 2000 Qualifying School – Final Stage and then through the Challenge Tour Rankings in 2001. An impressive amateur career was rounded off by winning the Brabazon Trophy at Formby in 1998 and representing Sweden in the Eisenhower Trophy that same year. Coached by Jan Larsson, the professional at Bokskogen, where he was first introduced to the game by neighbours.
