Ross Fisher player biography

Full name: Ross Daniel Fisher
Country: England
Birthdate: 22.11.80
Residence: Cheam, England
Turned Pro: 2004

In August, Ross Fisher held off the determined challenge of local hero Padraig Harrington to win the 3 Irish Open at Killarney.

It was his fourth European Tour International Schedule victory and meant he continued a run of winning on Tour in every year from 2007. He won the inaugural Volvo World Match Play title at Finca Cortesin in November 2009, defeating American Anthony Kim in the 36 hole final to collect the third European Tour win of his career.

He proved himself capable of challenging at the very highest level by leading all four Major Championships at one stage that year, with his best finish coming at The Open where he took fifth spot.

After a promising rookie season in 2006, Fisher stepped up another level in 2007 when he won his maiden title, The KLM Open. He came close to a second title at the start of the 2008 campaign but lost out to Phil Mickelson in a play-off for the HSBC Champions. However, he soon made up for it with a landslide seven stroke victory at The European Open.

He learnt to play golf at Wentworth Club after being introduced to the game by his step-father at the age of three.
