Hole seventeen

PAR 3
193 YARDS

How it plays: The lake winds and water conspire to ensure only an honest strike – no doubt under the severest of pressure – will suffice here. Expect much drama.

Local knowledge: The deep bunker back left leaves a horrible shot back towards the water, depending on the pin position. Long right is probably the best bail-out.

Michael J. Scully, PGA Director of Golf, Medinah Country Club: “The key here will be the wind off Lake Kadijah, and the nerves of trying to win a match to win the 39th Ryder Cup. Hitting this relatively flat green will be the key with being long or left, making up and down quite difficult. “
