Hole 8 – Yellow Jasmine

PAR 5 – 570 YARDS

Again, it’s now very hard to carry the fairway bunker, so you’re going to need two very good hits to get up there.

The second shot is about 20 yards uphill. Front right is a good miss, but left leaves a difficult chip because the slopes are severe on that side. Back left flags are birdie chances if you can get over the hog’s back in the middle of the green. That’s Augusta. Those are the fine margins. It’s torture at times, but it’s the ultimate challenge and the top players often come out on top.

The Quiros way: With my driver, I’ll be hitting uphill over the left edge of the fairway bunker. From there it should be about a 3-iron in. I don’t need to shape it too much… I can go straight over the trees. Targetscore: 4

The Wilson way: You play the hole as a zig-zag: drive down the left, lay up down the right and then hit back to the left where the green is located. The tee shot is the most important part here – find the bunker on the right and you can’t get over the ridge with your second shot, making your third tricky. Targetscore: 5
