McIlroy to play with Fowler and Els

US Open Champion Rory McIlroy will play with the colourful American Rickie Fowler and Ernie Els in the first two rounds of the 140th Open Championship at Royal St George’s.
McIlroy, who tees off at 9.09am, enters the tournament as favourite ahead of Luke Donald, who plays alongside Ryo Ishikawa and Sergio Garcia in the following group at 9.20am.
Donald may have the competitive edge over McIlroy following his emphatic win at the Scottish Open last week at Castle Stuart. The Northern Irishman, on the other hand, hasn’t played competitively since his stunning US Open win at Congressional back in June.
Defending champion Louis Oosthuizen tees off at 2.21pm with German Martin Kaymer and world number six Phil Mickelson.
Jerry Kelly will strike the first blow of the tournament at 6.30am, alongside young Danny Willett of England and Nathan Green.
Other groups of note include the trio of Tom Watson, Henrik Stenson and amateur Tom Lewis at 2.32pm and Game 39 off at 1.43pm, which comprises the big-hitting Bubba Watson, Graeme McDowell and the much-fancied Aussie Jason Day.
