The Open 2013

No other tournament can match The Open for its compelling aura, the dreams it fuels among amateurs and professionals alike and, when the battle for the iconic Claret Jug gets underway, its atmospheric drama.

This year, golf’s oldest and best Major is for the 16th time set for majestic Muirfield, a wonderful links course that boasts a roll-call of truly great champions. In our exclusive interview, defending champ Ernie Els tells TG he cannot wait to get back there. We share his sentiments.

To bring you this dedicated Open coverage we have spoken to all the big names, including Nick Faldo, Tom Watson, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and more; Gained insight from one of the leading course architects involved in tweaking Muirfield; And taken a tour of Greywalls, the famous Edwardian House and hotel on the edge of the course.

It’s a package that’s really whetted our Open appetites; we hope it will yours, too. So here’s to the 142nd Open and a wonderful July 14-21 week.
