Muirfield Hole 07

Par 3, 187 yards
The wise old sages of the Honourable Company will tell you that you shouldn’t read any break into putts on the 7th green.
It’s flat, they’ll say, and every putt is a straight one.
This is predominantly true (although a practical investigation by the secretary prior to the 1972 Open proved there was indeed some movement on certain putts), but in any case the real problem is getting safely onto the putting surface in the first place.
Into the prevailing westerly breeze and up a slight incline, this can prove a tricky target to hit – and the deep Muirfield bunkers are, it is needless to say, best avoided.
The exposed green, which drops from back to front and from right to left, can become very quick in Open week.
