The only really blind tee shot at Muirfield may cause those with a more conservative game plan to lay up to around the 250-yard mark off the tee.
The fairway bunkers, one on the left and two on the right, lie just beyond that and a lay-up drive will leave somewhere in the region of 140 yards to the heart-shaped green.
The perfect line is up the left, which opens up the approach – especially with the flag frequently tucked in behind the sand pits guarding the right side.
The second shot requires great control because this is a target that needs to be hit.
The green is surrounded by no fewer than seven traps and if a competitor finds them, they are certainly deep enough to make recovery for par no easy objective.
