Muirfield Hole 15

Par 4, 447 yards

This hole used to be under 400 yards but now a new tee has stretched it even further and made it a stringent test for even today’s long-hitting elite.

The tee lies 32 yards further back at a point where visibility of the hole is more limited. Players will look to drive as far right as they can because a ball on the opposite side will bring a particularly nasty pot bunker just short of the green into play.

Some might be better served striking an iron from the tee for accuracy, but this is still a long enough par 4 to make it dangerous whatever tactical decision you make.

The green is known to members as the Camel’s Back and there are real three-putt possibilities if the approach does not find the right section of what is one of the larger putting surfaces here.

Expect to see the flag on the left at some point over the weekend, bringing that aforementioned bunker into play even more.
