Today’s Golfer 25th Anniversary

Today’s Golfer is 25 years old this month – and to celebrate we’ve got England’s best golfer on the cover, in 3D.

In his first editorial in the magazine in May 1988, launch editor Bill Robertson set out the purpose of the new title: “Simple, easy-to-follow tuition came high on the list of priorities among the golfers we talked to. Interesting places to play also figures prominently in our research findings.

“You asked for more equipment, so Today’s Golfer has answered this call by featuring a regular Club Test series. And top names from the professional game will figure prominently in the kind of informative and entertaining articles that will soon become synonymous with the magazine.”

A quarter of a century later, these things still remain the bedrock of the magazine and our website, but other things have changed beyond recognition.
