Youngsters and Seniors team up at Slaley Hall

De Vere Slaley Hall is hosting a special event for kids when the PGA Seniors Championship visits from 24-28 June.

The Northumberland Resort is teaming up with the Golf Foundation in search of young golfing stars to attend the special Golf Roots event.

Some of golf’s greatest elder statesmen will be on hand during a special Tri-Golf event to offer tips and advice to some of the North-East’s youngest golfers.

The lucky youngsters will be selected from a number of Golf Roots initiatives which will run in twelve schools across the region during May.

The ‘Tri-Golf’ sessions are specially adapted versions of the game which offer young children their first introduction to golf, teaching them both the technical and personal skills required to play the game.

John Wood, Golf Foundation Regional Development Officer for the North-East region, commented, “De Vere and Slaley Hall have really embraced the Golf Roots programme in Newcastle this year. Linking in the programme with De Vere’s flagship event really is the icing on the cake and will give the school sessions in May an added impetus which I am sure the children will really enjoy.”
