Els lands major wine award

South African superstar Ernie Els recently had good reason for celebrating at the International Wine Challenge Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Now in its 26th year the IWC is the largest, most prestigious and influential independent wine competition in the world… and Ernie Els Wines was very much to the fore when iot came to handing out the prizes.
“This is further recognition for the great skills of our winemaker Louis Strydom and the rest of the team at Guardian Peak and Ernie Els Wines,” commented Ernie Els. “They’re the reason that our wines continue to make a big impact on the international wine scene.”
Up to 10,000 wines are entered for the International Wine Challenge and the judging panel of 300 experts from 19 countries assesses every wine ‘blind’ up to six times throughout the judging process, each wine judged for its faithfulness to variety, region and vintage.
The Guardian Peak Lapa Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 was awarded the best red wine in the show, taking the coveted ‘Champion Red Wine’ trophy, against some of the very best wines in the world. Ernie Els Wines also received the Planet Earth Award for Best Sustainable Producer, based on the winery’s strict adherence to a set of environmentally sustainable production guidelines.

*Trophy Best Red Wine from Stellenbosch – IWC
*Gold Medal Concours Mondial
