You all know that the Ryder Cup juggernaut is currently banging up the M4 to Newport, but we can officially announce that it’ll have to wait a minute to make room for Goldie Lookin Chain and their Goldie Lookin Golf Tournament, complete with massive gig on Saturday, 25 September.
Newport to the core, GLC, with the help of Newport-based mag Voice, are bringing golf and a blinding bash to the good people of Newport in the form of a star-studded charity golf tournament at the city’s municipal course in Caerleon, which will be followed by a show at Newport leisure centre straight afterwards!
Confirmed names for the golf tournament so far include silver medal winning Olympian Jamie Baulch, Dirty Sanchez stars Pritchard and Dainton, BBC Radio DJ Bethan Elfyn and, of course, the Goldie Lookin Chain lads. Plenty of other celebs are in the pipeline and will be confirmed over the coming weeks.
The tournament will be open to all Newport residents to watch free of charge and the gig, priced at a fiver a ticket, will feature GLC supported by 2Rude and the recently signed Dirty Goods.
“Golf can be a bit stuffy, so we’re going to do something golf-orientated that everyone in Newport can get involved in. We’re going to put the ‘olf’ back into golf and give something back to the people of Newport,” said GLC’s P-Xain.
“This is going to be the golf event to end all golf events. They’ll probably cancel the Ryder Cup after seeing this,” added Emma Corten, organiser.
