Rate My Swing: jboo

“JBOO, you have a very good looking set up and swing. Looking at your swing in slow motion I suspect you don’t hit a traditional ‘over the top’ type of pull coming across the ball but more a ‘good players pull’ where your left wrist collapses through impact.

“This action flips the clubface left as the ball separates from the club starting the ball left, and then going further left.

“Your problem starts by turning into your left hip too much at the top, then in the transition down your hips get ‘closed’ and stuck rather than clearing and turning out of the way.

“Being stuck causes your hands to get ‘blocked’ and a flipping motion rather than an un-interrupted turn through where the club would square up more gradually.

“I would like you to feel more coil into your right thigh at the top, then feel you turn your left hip out with a feel of little or no shift and more rotation. Aim to feel the forearms and club are squared by the turn of your body rather than too much independent hand action.

“Place your club in your belly button, hold down the shaft and turn 1/2 swings back and through to get the feel of this motion. All the best with the changes.”
