Make your first shot count

Your first tee shot can so often set the tone for the rest of your round, so it’s amazing how many people don’t warm up or have a hit in the range before teeing off.

TG’s FREE Handicap Tracker service can help you identify if you’re losing more shots than you should be early on like these guys:

Philip Hogan (19.6) started par, 12, seven at Lewes Golf Club when bogies would have given him an 86 and net two under par.

Tom Frost (9.3) opened with three double bogeys on his was to an 82 at Haydock Park GC.

Adrian Burns (24.8) recorded three triple bogeys before a run of birdie, par, and five bogies. His 94 at Wyre Forest could so easily have been a 85!

If, like these golfers, you have trouble starting fast and giving yourself the best chance of shooting a low score, you should make sure you’re warming up properly on the range.
