Ogilvy wins first Fantasy League event

Geoff Ogilvy shot a closing 67 and finished -22 to retain the SBS Championship, the first round of the TG Winter Fantasy League.

The Australian started the day a shot adrift of overnight leader Lucas Glover, but the American fell away and Rory Sabbatini was his closest challenger.

The controversial South African recorded a blistering 10 under par 63 that catapulted him from 10th to 2nd on his own.

Matt Kuchar finished 3rd on -20, with Sean O’Hair and fast-emerging Scot Martin Laird a shor further back.

With only 28 players lining up at Kapalua and the top 20 scoring Fantasy League points it was a chance for managers to make a fast start in pursuit of the Turkey holiday first prize.

Gary Reilly did exactly that, scoring a whopping 138 points. Gary’s team consisted of first-placed Ogilvy, runner-up Sabbatini, O’Hair and Laird who shared 4th and Kenny Perry and Retief Goosen who finished tied 6th.

Owen Shledon notched 136 points while a group of five sit two points further back.
