Gary Lineker Backs Macmillan Longest Day Challenge 2010

Gary Lineker and Macmillan Cancer Support are asking golfers of all abilities to prove their staying power by playing four rounds in one day and taking part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010.

To take part in Macmillan’s Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010, participants simply sign up (junior, adult or a mixed age team), pick a convenient day and course(s), and get sponsored to play 72 holes and hit over 300 shots all in one day (almost 20 miles of walking!).

Lineker says: “Good luck to everyone taking part. It is for such a great cause, Macmillan Cancer Support does truly wonderful work and deserves our support. Play well and play quickly.”

Macmillan are hoping that golfers across the UK will raise £365,000 to help them continue to provide services which help make a real difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families.

To add to the excitement, the top four teams that complete the challenge will go on to compete for the 2010 Longest Day Golf Trophy. The final will take place at the prestigious Boavista Golf Resort in October 2010.
