Youngsters' chance to win a day with 'Westy'

World no.3 Lee Westwood is giving stars of the future the chance to discover first-hand what it takes to reach the top of the game - with the help of Spain's La Manga Club.

The award-winning five-star resort has teamed up with the Lee Westwood Golf Academy to offer two youngsters the opportunity of a lifetime to spend a day learning from the former world number one.

The prize is available to any boys and girls attending Westwood's academy at La Manga Club this summer, which will run from August 6-10 and 13-17.

After spending five days following a dedicated instruction programme covering all aspects of the game, children from the ages of seven to 16 will be put through a series of skills tests - with the winner from each week being selected on their ability and attitude by the academy's team of expert coaches.

Not only will the two winners get to spend a day with Westwood at Lindrick Golf Club in Nottinghamshire in September but they will also win a host of other goodies including a custom- made Ping driver and putter, a box of Titleist balls and a pair of Footjoy shoes.

Westwood launched his first overseas junior golf to widespread acclaim at La Manga Club last year, and such was its success, the popular training programme will return for another outing in August.

The clinics, which will run for two hours per day, are open to boys and girls in two different age groups - seven to 11 years and 12-16 years - with five-day academy courses costing €250 for guests staying in the resort's five-star hotel.

The return of the Lee Westwood Golf Academy - which has been set up in conjunction with Activate Sport, an organisation which provides quality sport and activity instruction to boys and girls across the UK - is one of a series of junior academies involving some of sport's biggest names that will take place at La Manga Club this summer.

La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sport and leisure resort including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa complex. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses, more than 20 bars and restaurants and great entertainment for children.
